Adoption Day A Success!

Adoption Day 4-3-2010Our first adoption day April 3, 2010 was a success by any standard. Without much media advertisement or local posters on the day of event we had 4 adoptions!

Carter aka Apollo was adopted first, then Hildie our Akita mix, Linus the Corgi/Shepherd found a fabulous home, and ending the day was Lady, our Shepherd mix. Boris got a foster home.

Some of our volunteers stayed throughout the day from the morning clean up and dog care duties (thank you Kelly, Taylor, and Michelle), while Diana, Pat, Diane G, and Angela came out to help in whatever we needed them to do during the event. Stephania, who is a dog trainer with our classes, volunteered her time to help with our Adoption Day.

PatsyDebra, who is fostering our funny, make you smile at all cost pit bull, Patsy, in a rainbow colored tutu to show her off, also came along.

Michelle and Taylor rotated dogs out onto the yard to show them off and get them some exercise. Pat, Diana, Stephania, and Kelly walked dogs in the parking lot. Mother Nature helped us out by having clear skies and good weather.

Second Chance is planning on having 1 to 2 Adoption Days each month to help get dogs adopted into the right homes. But you don’t have to wait for an Adoption Day to adopt a dog. The shelter is open by appointment only so call first.

If only balloons and volunteer enthusiasm were enough, we would have adopted all the dogs in our care on Adoption Day April 3, 2010. Thank you all for taking time out of your day to help get out homeless dogs into permanent homes.
