Cat Lady visited by Jonathon and the flying Pitbulls

Who says we can't all get along? Last week, on a windy day, Jonathon came by to show us his frisbee team extrodinaire. It was absolutely fabulous to see how his dogs worked with so much joy! AND a finale of 4 dogs all working at once with focus on their task of retrieving "their" frisbee. Awesome to see these bad rapped dogs working so happy, friendly and under control. Another myth successfully busted!!!

Reality makes me sick - and it's worse for the cats!

Well, as kitten showers start area wide, the phone was ringing off the hook this morning with "cat calls." One elderly lady told me that last month's population control was her son coming out and shooting 8 cats, and he would do so again if things didn't change. My yummy oatmeal started churning in my stomach..... Over 22 cats and none fixed!!! With money for 2-4 more clinics, I worry about the future ......... People, PLEASE! There are few to zero homes for these kits that turn into reproduction machines in as little as 5 months! Feed + NO Fix = energy for MORE CATS! Feed LESS (use money for FIX) = Less Cats and Better Conditions! Donate today to help control and decrease our cat over-population with surgery not slaughter!!!

FOF - OVER 100 Cats!!!!

In less than 1 year, Friends of Felines has helped 100 cats get Spayed & Neutered AND a rabies shot. These cats are now enjoying the possibility of longer, healthier lives and are making a direct impact on our local population density issues. Still there are TENS of THOUSANDS of cats that need assistance in North State. As animal lovers in general, and specifically cat lovers, and people of conscience, it is up to us to continue to practice and educate about Spay/Neuter of pets AND Trap Neuter Return (TNR) of Ferals. Unfortunately, the need for low-cost spay/neuter is so great that spay/neuter is our focus. We dream and pray for the day when we can help with fostering and adopting of cats. Please consider a donation of any amount to help with this worthy cause. Click on "donate" and comment FOF or CATS. 100% of your tax-deductible contribution will go directly to the costs of spay/neuter and a rabies shot for un-altered cats. Thank you for caring about making a more purrrfect world!!! Sharon for FOF

FOOD GRADE Diatemaceous Earth (DE) for Parasite/Insect Control & Bad Smells

This is some COOL stuff!!! It looks and tastes like chalk dust.  It is ground up like flour diatoms (one celled plants that lived in the ocean floor)  It works by basically, cutting the bugs/parasites and then they experience "death by dehydration," so they don't build up a "tolerance."

When someone first tried to tell me about "eating dirt," I was NOT interested.  It wasn't until I started using it when we first got chickens in the spring of '09, that I started using DE to keep the smell down in their litter.   In the coop, the smell is under control with just a weekly addition of more pine shavings and DE and "harvesting" the pans under the roosts.  Then, I started adding it into the food of the chickens, cats, dog and myself.  I mix 1# in a 50# sack of chicken feed, and sprinkle all over the roosts, the  coop and exercise pen.  For the dog and cats, it just gets mixed into the kibble/water.  I mix mine with a little water and just slam it down with a water chaser. They say the human body can host 100 parasites of which only 10 are normally tested for.  It seems to help mine and my dogs arthritis and my over 50 "bursting into flames" is helped as well.

DO NOT USE POOL GRADE DE - USE ONLY FOOD GRADE!
Best price is usually the feed store Richfield Feed  ~ 22 bucks for 50# sack
Do NOT breath this or any dust.  Be careful about the vacuum as it will jam your filter.

Why Should I care about the cats, and what can I do?

Why Should I care?

Local goverment has no resources to deal with this problem.  The economy is creating more and more abandoned animals, and we can't sit back and wait for government, or anyone else to fix this, or any of our problems.
If we don't deal NOW,  it will only get worse.
The ecology problems will increase.

The public health issues will get worse.
More unnessary killing will happen placing a moral and ethical burden on us, and our society.

Cats are suffering and born into disease, starvation and suffering, and it's up to us to do what we can!
What can I do?

If you are feeding a colony, TNR your cats.
Email cats@mishafarms.us or call 824-9100 to get in "que" for low-cost Spay/Neuter or voluteer
Ask the shelter to not adopt out un-altered pets.

Ask the sheriff to enforce abandonement laws.
Make a tax-deductable donation to help the cats!
