JC's Mutt Musings

Bill Staines' sweet song "Old Dogs" reminds us they are waiting patiently for a loving home

Today as I was on my way out to the shelter to check out our new storage/office building, (which looks great, by the way!) and I heard this song on KCHO--called "Old Dogs," it's by singer/songwriter Bill Staines, a fine folk musician, and it will surely bring a tear to your eye if you are a dog lover!  The chorus starts with these lines:  "Old dogs come and old dogs go, old dogs always seen to know/That love is life's most precious flow and love is worth the waiting.'

There are a lot of good dogs patiently waiting for a forever loving home at our shelter...call Debbie if you would like to meet one!

Incoming president's introduction; Spotlight on Korman

As the incoming President of the Board of Second Chance, I thought I might introduce myself.  I am a lawyer here in Corning, but I come from a veterinary family (dad's a retired professor at the Vet School in Davis, and I am a Registered Vet Tech as well as a lawyer.)  Animal welfare and shelter pet adoption are causes very dear to my heart. I am looking forward to working with the WONDERFUL  folks at Second Chance!

I would like to shine a spotlight on one of our dogs, Korman, who has been with us for several months, and who would really, really, like a family to go home with forever.  When we got some enrichment toys recently, including balls on a rope that are easy to throw, Korman really took to it!  If you have a young ballplayer in your house, or maybe you would like a partner for a game of "toss," then Korman is your guy!  Make an appointment with Debbie at the shelter to come pay him a visit and throw the ball around with him!
