McConnell Foundation gives grant to SCPR

"Even though we use all the space in the shelter to our best ability, it is not ideal when trying to talk to people adopting a dog in the dog food prep area, only water source for water buckets and the only door to the outside area." says Debbie Eaglebarger, founder of Second Chance Pet Rescue and resident shelter care taker of the Corning Animal Shelter. "Having a quiet space to talk and fill out adoption paperwork out of the wind and rain and sun will be wonderful! Having to conduct business of adoptions, owner picking up dogs, or surrendering them, or having Animal Control or the police bringing in dogs at the only door into the shelter makes it almost impossible for those who are working at cleaning, feeding and trying to get out the door with dogs who need a walk on the leash. Not to mention you can't really carry on a conversation when the dogs in the shelter are barking." she went on to say. The old storage building was donated and was used to its capacity. The new storage building has a loft to store dog houses, beds, doggie wading pools and other supplies. It is elevated 2 feet off the ground so when flooding comes, nothing gets ruined.
