Air Horns Work !!

Every now and then, not that often, a fight breaks out among the dogs. We're very careful who we partner with who and which ones make for good play buddies during outside time.

For months we have had a new system in place to alert other people on site that assistance was needed. Small air horns in our pockets at all times, should a fight break out, using it in short small bursts. Today we got our chance to see if the new system would work. IT DID !!

Gladys was in the outside pens, Diana was in the inside pens, and I was outside tending my own dogs. I suddenly heard a series of short air horn bursts and raced to the shelter. Two dogs had gotten out of their pens who were not good play partners and ... well, you can guess the rest. Diana was quick on her feet and immediately put the air horn in her pocket to use.

The dogs were not hurt but they could have been (and so could we!)if we didn't have a plan in place. A bit of adrenalin to keep us on our toes but all in all a happy ending to what could have been a tragedy for everyone. Thank you Diana for putting this plan in place before anything happened so we could be prepared.
