Thursday, June 10, Second Chance hosted Corning in the Evening, a Chamber Of Commerce monthly event that highlights local Chamber member businesses. About 45 people were treated to barbequed Tri Tip, Chicken, Cesar Salad, Fresh Fruit and home- made desserts provided by Mike and Sharon.

The dogs were delighted to have groups of people touring the shelter and stopping to admire them. They, (the dogs) knew something special was going on and were on their best behavior. With all the people coming and going, cars jamming the parking lot and people walking the isle of the outside pens, the dogs didn’t bark or carry on even while dinner was being served.

The highlight of the evening was when Bell Carter Olive Company presented Second Chance with a donation check for $1,000.00! The donation was a response for sponsorship for our up- coming, Music 4 Mutts event, June 26, at Northside Park, (the pool park) from Noon to 4 pm. Half the money was raised by the employees and the other half was a matching donation by Bell Carter.

The Business Card prize drawing winners were delighted with gifts donated by Butte Community Bank, Corning Air Cooled Engine Service, Dot Linnet and Second Chance.

Second Chance is grateful to all its volunteers who helped ready the shelter, set up and helped with the event. Thanks to Mike and Sharon for your donation of the wonderful meal you provided.

We would like to thank all who came out and participated in Corning in the Evening to see how Second Chance Pet Rescue and the Corning Animal Shelter work together for the sake of Corning’s dogs.
